Brazilian Cherry

Description:
Sapwood is gray-white; heartwood is salmon red to orange brown when fresh. Often marked with dark streaks.
Light Sensitivity:
Becomes russet or reddish brown when seasoned. Swedish finish will appear more red than water base.
Size and Grade Availability:
Standard widths are 2-1/4", 3", 4" and 5" in a clear grade.
Comments:
Occasionally white spots will appear several months after the floor is installed. Because of drastic color change, rugs should not be placed for six months.
Hardness (Janka):
Average of 2820 (119% harder than Northern Red Oak).
Dimensional Stability:
Above average (19% more stable than Northern Red Oak).
Origin:
South America.
