Brazilian Cherry
- Description:
- Sap wood is gray-white; heartwood is salmon red to orange brown when fresh. Often marked with dark streaks.
- Light Sensitivity:
- Becomes russet or reddish brown when seasoned. Swedish finish will appear more red than water base.
- Size and Grade Availability:
- Standard widths are 2 1/4, 3", 4", 5" in a clear grade.
- Comments:
- Occasionally white spots will appear several months after the floor is installed.
Because of drastic color change, rugs should not be placed for six months.
- Hardness (Janka):
- Average of 2820 (119% harder than Northern Red Oak).
- Dimensional Stability:
- Above average (8.5 1% more stable than Northern Red Oak).
- Origin:
- South America.
