Hickory and Pecan
- Description:
- Heartwood is tan or reddish brown with dark brown stripes; sapwood is white or creamy white with pinkish tones. Pecan and Hickory are traditionally mixed by flooring mills.
- Light Sensitivity:
- Ambers over time.
- Size and Grade Availability:
- Standard widths are 2 1/4, 3 1/4" in a select grade. It is also available in a random width plank in a select or rustic grade. Expect large color variations in all grades.
- Comments:
- May be difficult to stain.
- Hardness (Janka):
- 1820 (41% harder than Northern Red Oak).
- Dimensional Stability:
- Average (3% less stable than Northern Red Oak). Actual installations of hickory have shown to have significant movement.

- North America.
