We install domestic hardwoods directly from Wisconsin mills, as well as from other areas of the country. We also have an extensive availability of exotic woods from all over the world.

When purchasing flooring, we look to floor mills that produce the highest quality milling to the tightest tolerances. They must be consistent in their quality as well as availability. This insures that the flooring in your home will have the best look.

The flooring choices offered by us include many options beyond the species of wood. We offer different widths from standard 2 1/4 inch strip flooring, to wide plank and variable width floors. We also deal in a variety of cuts including regular sawn and rift and quarter sawn. Furthermore, the varieties available include different grades from very clear to character and rustic grades.

Mirage pre-finished flooring is also offered. We are one of the very few exclusive dealers in this area. Mirage brand flooring sets the bar for quality and durability in the pre-finished floor market.

Sanding

At Ralph's, we believe starting with the best equipment will help our trained technicians consistently create the best-looking floors. All our sanding crews are equipped with top of the line sanding equipment. Great sanding machines, fine-tuning and timely maintenance gives our technicians a big advantage in their goal of craftsmanship.

We have invested in customer convenience as well as sanding equipment. We own the first Atomic Dust Containment System in Northeastern Wisconsin. This unit removes all airborne sanding dust into a powerful, self-contained vacuum system in a trailer outside of your home. Imagine having your wood floors refinished without the dust. Less mess...less hassle. For a modest charge, we can include the dust containment system.

Finish

The reputation of Glitsa Swedish Finish has been well known in Northeastern Wisconsin for some time now. It is that of a very natural looking finish that accentuates the beauty of the wood. It also has been a proven leader in durability and scratch resistance. Ralph's Hardwood Floor Company has been proud to offer this finish on wood floors for many years now. It is still requested by the majority of our customers.

We also offer a variety of other finishes depending on individual needs. We have seen a growth in demand for water-based urethanes recently. Water base finish was developed to be environmentally friendly and tend to be less ambering than other finishes.

Commercial grade finishes are also available. Many restaurants and dance floors in the area have enjoyed the richness of wood for their décor. These floors require a finish that can withstand the abuse of the public as well as spills and cleaning. Our commercial finishes were designed to wear well even under these conditions.

Recoat

Every five to ten years, we recommend applying more finish to your floors to make your floor look new again. Learn more about the recoating process.

Design

Ralph's is more than fine craftsmen and the highest quality materials. Our sales staff is creative and will help you design the perfect floor to fit your individual desires. From traditional to incredible, we will help fashion just the right look.

Borders and Medallions

We have become experts at the art of designing and installing beautiful borders and medallions in homes. These include simple wood feature stripes in door or archways to laser cut, room framing exotic borders. We use our own patterns, as well as pre-made designs from Oshkosh Designs (formerly Historic Floors of Oshkosh) and Yarema Marquetry.

Hand scraped and distressed floors

One of the newest trends in wood flooring is hand scraped floors. These floors have a rustic, antiqued feel with the durability of a new floor. The come in a variety of species and colors. Also available are distressed floors offering a unique old world texture.
