White Oak

Description:
Heartwood is light brown, some boards may have a pinkish tint or a slight grayish cast. Sapwood is white to cream. White oak is slightly darker and grayer than red oak.
Light Sensitivity:
Ultraviolet rays will change the color of the wood where some of the gray tones fade.
Size and Grade Availability:
Standard widths are 2-1/4" and 3-1/4" in select or common grade. It is also available in wider width planks in select, natural, or rustic grade.
Comments:
Accepts stain evenly.
Hardness (Janka):
1210 (6% softer than Northern Red Oak).
Dimensional Stability:
Average (10.5; 22% less stable than Northern Red Oak).
Actual installations of White Oak have shown very little movement.
Origin:
Northern Wisconsin.
