This Valentine’s Day, we’re not just celebrating love—we’re celebrating 60 years of passion, partnership, and beautiful hardwood floors at Ralph's Hardwood Floors. Our story isn’t just about sanding and finishing; it’s a love story—the story of my mom and dad and my dad’s lifelong love affair with floors.
Mom and Dad first met as neighbors, living across the road on two farms. Their love blossomed in those fields, and those same farms became the birthplace of Ralph's Hardwood Floors. Mom still lives on the farm today, a testament to the roots that keep us grounded and the love that built our family and business.
After serving his country, Dad returned home, hoping to build a life with Mom. But the family farm couldn’t support another household, so Dad found a new passion—hardwood floors. He dove headfirst into the sanding and finishing business, bringing the same dedication and care to his work as he did to his family.
When I was born in 1965, Dad took a leap of faith and started Ralph's Floor Sanding Service. Dad used to joke that he started the business the day I arrived as if my future was sealed when I took my first breath. The dates might be a little fuzzy, but the story is one of love—for family and for the craft of creating beautiful floors.
Over the decades, Ralph's grew from a small, one-man operation into the trusted company it is today. But it wasn’t just Dad's hard work that made it happen. My mom, Roberta, was the heart of this business. She kept things running smoothly, handled the books, and supported Dad through every challenge. Ralph's is her “baby,” too, and it wouldn’t be what it is today without her unwavering love and dedication.
As we celebrate 60 years of Ralph's Hardwood Floors this Valentine's Day, we’re honoring the beautiful floors we've installed and the love story that built this company. Mom and Dad’s partnership in life and business laid the foundation for everything we do.
