A Look with Character
The deep, rich grains and darker knots in hickory bring out stunning contrast colors, creating a visual appeal that pairs beautifully with almost any stain.
The skip-sawn texture is one of our most popular looks. It's a happy medium between smooth milled and circle or band sawn, leaving a "hit or miss" or "hit/skip" look on the plank face.
Hand-scraped plank floors offer light, even surfacing that leaves the boards looking crisp and clean. We have a natural person scrape the surface of the wood to give it a worn appearance.
Wire brushing mimics natural weathering, removing the softer wood grain and creating a furrowed surface in old boards. This creates an aged and “weathered” visual depth to the surface of your plank floor. The occasional scratches and dents of daily life only add to the patina of a brush-distressed floor.
Built to Last
Known for being one of the hardest domestic woods, Hickory’s 1820 rating on the Janka scale makes it around 41% tougher than traditional Red Oak. This resilience makes it a top pick for areas that see a lot of foot traffic. The natural shock resistance means it can handle whatever life throws at it – kids, pets, you name it!
